Provenir Exceeds Performance Goals on z/OS
12 Million Accounts Per Hour Processed With The Power Of IBM's Z/OS
May 22, 2007
(Parsippany, New Jersey, USA) - Provenir, a leading provider of enterprise software for managing the total customer credit lifecycle, today announced the completion of a benchmark study with IBM where the company's customer lifecycle management software was able to process over 12 million transactions per hour on the IBM z/OS mainframe operating system.
The benchmark study was conducted at the IBM System z Benchmark Center in Montpellier, France, and demonstrated that:
- The Provenir Platform was able to process from 4-12 million transactions per hour depending on the size and complexity of the workflow transaction.
- The Provenir Platform scales linearly on IBM's z/OS
- The Provenir Engine's Java application code can be offloaded to IBM's zAAP processors
Especially noteworthy is the success of the message bus architecture that Provenir uses to loosely couple key components of its enterprise platform. While a message bus is an obvious choice in a distributed platform such as IBM's AIX, the message bus architecture proved to be critical component of the implementation of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) on the mainframe as well.
This study demonstrated the capabilities of Java on the mainframe and that the Provenir Platform's single Java code base can execute on mainframes as well as on distributed platforms such as AIX, Linux, iSeries and Windows.
According to a new research report by Gartner, IBM, helped by its System z mainframes held the top spot in the financial services server market with a 44% market share. "We are excited that we have successfully demonstrated that the Provenir Platform can efficiently run in an IBM z/OS environment" said Jeffrey Oulton, Chief Operating Officer of Provenir. "This is of key importance to our customers that execute critical business processes, including Customer/Account Management and Collections, on the mainframe."
