What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?

Jean Gaughan | ProvenirAs an HR Senior Specialist, my role is focused on recruitment and talent management. Day-to-day, I source and screen qualified candidates globally. I also manage special projects involving HR Analytics, Training and Performance Management.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

People, Engagement, Culture

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is working on improvement across the company including; training, recruiting talent, employee engagement. I enjoy researching and evaluating new HR tech tools or making HR processes more efficient. In HR, we continually look to raise the bar and taking people or processes to the next level.

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Eleanor Roosevelt-she was an outspoken First Lady and significantly redefined the role. A champion of human rights, she served in the UN as the first chair of the UN Commission on Human Rights.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

I have two pieces of advice I always refer to “Work hard and good things will happen” and
“a successful HR person shows empathy when needed”

What are the most exciting developments/opportunities you’re seeing in the industry?

We are seeing many exciting trends recently that will continue in 2020 including:

  • HR adding value to all stakeholders, not just management
  • Using analytics to make better people decisions
  • Focus on wellness and improved workplace environment

What’s your most memorable facepalm moment?

Ha ha ha too many to count!

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

Professionally-a long tenured employee at two successful, but very different companies and making an impact at both.

Personally-my family, specifically my marriage of 20+ years and raising my son.
