Employee Spotlight – Julie Mannella

November 21, 2019 | Jonathan Pryer

What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?

My mornings are typically spent researching and learning about industry trends and events happening in my territory, prepping for calls, and collaborating with my team on prospecting to try to find new business. Being new to Provenir, this is where I spend the bulk of my time.

The rest of the day, and since my territory covers all of Canada, I can be found setting up client calls, following up with clients via email, reviewing existing client contracts, speaking to new prospects, and trying to close deals.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

  • Rewarding: Getting to talk to clients, many of whom have become friends over the years, and help them solve their business issues gives me an incredible sense of satisfaction
  • Engaging: Having fabulous clients and an amazing team who supports me in the office leaves me incredibly energized and engaged
  • Stimulating: Being relatively new to Provenir, I’m constantly in learning mode and ready to take in new information

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Working with my clients to help solve their business issues and seeing their reaction when they walk through our demo and understand how we can empower them by putting the future of their business back in THEIR hands. Not being beholden to a vendor’s development and deployment schedule and having the autonomy to champion/challenge new strategies on our platform is what drew me to join Provenir and I can’t wait to share our story with all of my valued clients!

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Simon Sinek – I highly encourage everyone to watch his TedTalk “How Great Leaders Inspire” or read “Find Your Why”. Success is a choice and having a purpose helps drive us there.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

Be kind to people; treat people as you would like to be treated.

What are the most exciting developments/opportunities you’re seeing in the industry?

Where to start?? There are so many disruptions happening in our industry, from advanced tools used for fraud detection to AI, VR and process automation to blockchain. Overarching all of this is that we’ve had to adapt to becoming a “consumer first” driven environment. Gone were the days where big business drove the agenda – with the shift to all things digital, the balance of power is now in the hands of the consumer who expects more, better and faster. From how we market to consumers, to onboarding and managing them, the dynamics have changed and having solutions that can help our customers adapt at that same rate of speed is exhilarating!

What’s your most memorable facepalm moment?

Ummm, yeah, no… do I really have to answer this one??

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

Being able to successfully navigate a 20+ year career in sales while raising a family and maintaining a loving relationship with my husband of 25 years is probably my biggest achievement. Still working on trying to find balance though…
