Welcome to the team Chris! You’ve recently joined Provenir as Sales Executive, UK… can you tell us a bit about your background and your role?

I have worked in the data, software, and analytics industry throughout my career and, in the past 15 years, have worked in a variety of sales, business development, and management roles. My role at Provenir is to focus on the UK market as part of the wider EMEA team and develop opportunities and relationships with new clients and help them to understand and make the most of our market-leading technology.

What does a typical day look like for you?

No two days have been the same so far!  I like to have some structure to my day if I can. I also try to take some time for exercise; this could be anything from a dog walk to a swim, to help put my mind in gear and also unwind. Usually though, my day will start with e-mails, then a combination of client appointments and a mixture of internal meetings and follow-ups to progress any sales opportunities. At this time of year, there is also a fair degree of planning required to look at what we are trying to achieve in the coming months.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

Varied, Exciting, Challenging

What’s your favorite part of your job so far?

Speaking with clients and understanding how Provenir can help with their problems, challenges, and opportunities. Understanding the inner workings and true strength of our technology, innovation plans, and the remarkable global reach we have as a disruptive fintech.

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

My Dad, sadly no longer with us, but I’m sure he would have plenty of words of wisdom and guidance up his sleeve.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

You have got two ears and only one mouth! In sales, it’s often more important to listen carefully to understand how you can help a customer before telling them everything there is to know about your service.

What are the most exciting developments/opportunities you’re seeing in the industry?

The fintech movement is definitely an exciting prospect for Provenir. Despite having been around for a while, it’s evolving all the time and ‘digital-first’ approaches are finally becoming the norm across the wider sector.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

I recall agreeing on a contract worth £1m in my first year in sales. To me, this was a huge deal at the time and piqued my interest in sales and getting customers to say ‘yes’.
