Panelists:

Hugh Courtney, CFO and Head of Risk, Zilch

Hugh is a Chartered Accountant and a member of both ICAEW (UK) and SAICA (South Africa). In addition, he holds an Executive MBA (awarded with distinction) and PGDip in Financial Strategy from the SaÏd Business School, University of Oxford.

Hugh started his career at the Standard Bank of South Africa, working in Group Financial Reporting, Investor Relations, Capital Management, Risk, Acquisition (leveraged) Finance and ultimately Debt Capital Markets. Subsequently as an entrepreneur, Hugh founded Southern Resources, a consultancy providing support to mid cap listed companies looking to access both the public equity and credit markets. Hugh went on to co-found Nesa Captital, a specialist impact lending business providing capital to SMMEs in South Africa and funding the rollout of PV solar to promote access to electricity for SMMEs in South Africa.

Subsequent to emigrating to the UK, Hugh joined Zilch as CFO and Head of Risk, taking responsibility for putting in place Zilch’s Consumer Credit authorization with the FCA, building out the underwriting and customer assessment elements of the business, and supporting the business’ equity and debt funding requirements.  

Charlotte Principato, Financial Services Analyst, Morning Consult

Charlotte Principato is a Financial Services Analyst for Morning Consult, leading the intelligence company’s insights on banking, fintech, and other financial services sectors. 

Prior to joining Morning Consult, Charlotte spent over five years at Gartner delivering research insights on global financial services. Most recently, she served as Senior Principal Advisor in Gartner’s Global Financial Services Industry Research and Advisory group, where she advised line of business, strategy, and talent executives at financial institutions on go to market strategy, customer experience, and digital transformation. In that role, Charlotte partnered directly with consumer, small business, and commercial banking leaders across the globe to develop research-based strategies for growth.
